Hi everyone, welcome to my blog. My name is Lori Ochoa and I currently reside in
Las (HOT)Vegas, NV with my two dachshunds Jack and Hannah and my kitty cat named Cleopatra. It is a cool (NOT!) 108 degrees on this Wednesday evening at 7:14 p.m. I am currently working as a Paralegal for a small bankruptcy law firm in downtown Las Vegas. I am pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on substance abuse. I am counting the days to graduation (292). I am looking forward to attending the graduation ceremony in Chicago in August, 2013!
This is my first blog, a requirement for my Creating Wellness: Psychological and Spiritual Aspects of Healing class. (Which I am enjoying by the way). I guess blogging can be compared to writing in a journal and/or diary.
One of our exercises for this week's unit was to take some time and listen to an audio entitled "Journey on Relaxation." Personally, I have a very hard time relaxing, in other words...I don't know how it. However, taking this dedicated time to close my eyes, listen, breathe, and follow the "suggestion" directions, I was truly in a state of relaxation. When the exercise was over and I opened my eyes, it felt as if I had been somewhere else other than in my room. Pretty cool. I guess I will need to dedicate time on a daily basis to take a "journey on relaxation."
Thanks for reading :-)
Hey Lori,
ReplyDeleteI read your post and I too felt that the relaxation exercise was great. I remember the first time that I did this exercise and it took me a little bit of time to let myself get into the exercise. When I finally did I was taking it all in and finding myself more relaxed than ever. Now that I have done this exercise again I concentrated on how I felt after the exercise and it was amazing how relaxed I was and now much energy I had. I just need to remember how I felt and try to do this more often.
Good post,
Melissa Brandt
Hello Lori,
ReplyDeleteI agree, I also have trouble relaxing. The guided meditation works better for me because it pushes me to focus. When left on my own I get too distracted. Glad it felt relaxing for you.

Hey Natalie, yup, my mind starts to wonder. I definitely enjoy the guided meditation technique much better.
DeleteThanks for reading :-)
It is so nice to meet you and I love your posts. I am new to the blogging so it is hard to get use to the workings. I love that you are keeping up with the journaling and look forward to more posts.
ReplyDeleteLori,
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I love your sense of humor. I have a friend that lives in Vegas. I am happy the exercise worked well for you. It is amazing where our minds can take us if we let it.
Best wishes
Brandy
Lori,
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the weather. I was just in Edwards, CA about 3 hrs from Las Vegas and I hated the heat out there. I'm not use to the dry heat so I was dying out there. Hope the weather cools down for you soon.
But is it amazing what 15 mins by yourself can do. I did enjoy listening to the audio clip. I wasn't to stressed when I did it but found that it did help me get into a deeper level of relaxation. I'm glad to hear that it did help you and that you enjoyed it. Maybe get some other relaxation CDs and play them in the background at night. That might help you a bit if you have a stressful day.
Good Luck
Suzanne
